The studio recently completed their latest project, the Matagouri House. With stunning views of Lake Wakatipu and the magnificent Kawarau Mountains, the architects took inspiration from the site's setting and combined it with the practicality of the innovative house, creating a unique character through materials and fine craftsmanship between the natural landscape and the intense family atmosphere, and giving the house a wild beauty of "living in nature".
Matagouri住宅的建筑样式在一定程度上受到苏格兰农民小屋低矮的双层结构和草屋顶的影响，与周边草丛中的两个天然土丘形成呼应。在起伏地形的主导下，住宅超越了简单的庇护功能，温暖和精致的设计元素置入，反映出高山场地的风貌及特征，同时提升了空间的宜居性。
The architectural style of the Matagouri house is influenced in part by the low double-storey structure and grass roof of the Scottish peasant cottage, which echoes the two natural mounds in the surrounding grass. Dominated by the undulating terrain, the house goes beyond a simple shelter function to incorporate warm and sophisticated design elements that reflect the alpine site and its character while enhancing the livability of the space.
住宅布局由两个相互连接的立方体砖石结构组成，外部借助一个遮蔽式的庭院进行缓冲。建筑位于北面山坡上，灵感源于Tim Hay的 "塔式结构"。顶层为主要的睡眠区，有着360°的观景视野；低层则为面向湖泊和山脉的生活区。为了避免受到南风影响，庭院处在住宅中心，即使在恶劣天气情况下也能进行户外活动。
The layout of the house consists of two interconnected cube masonry structures, which are externally buffered by a sheltered courtyard. Located on the north slope, the building was inspired by Tim Hay's "tower structure". The top floor is the main sleeping area with a 360° view; The lower level is a living area facing the lake and mountains. In order to avoid southerly winds, the courtyard is located in the center of the house, allowing outdoor activities even in inclement weather.
一层的北部包含了厨房、起居室和用餐区，而被庭院隔开的南侧则是客房和书房区域，所有空间都可以欣赏户外的自然景观。通过当地的匠心技艺，室内由木质结构所协调，营造出和谐的氛围，这是对光和材料的致敬。
The northern part of the ground floor contains the kitchen, living room and dining area, while the southern side, separated by a courtyard, houses the guest room and study area, all of which offer views of the natural outdoors. Through local craftsmanship, the interior is coordinated by wooden structures, creating a harmonious atmosphere that pays homage to light and materials.
