Olga Fradina is an interior designer from Kiev, Ukraine, who has been designing and implementing interiors for 15 years. In Olga Fradina's view, the presence of any interior art can personalize a space, so artists, painters, graphic designers and sculptors are often invited to collaborate.

Olga Fradina completes apartment in Kiev Olga Fradina has completed an apartment in Kiev, Ukraine, which is a dark open-plan living room where the owner can hold meditation and tea ceremonies. The 45-square-metre apartment, located at the top of a five-storey Soviet block of flats, is for a young fashion designer. To meet all of the client's requirements, Olga Fradina redesigned the floor plan of the entire space.

Brick walls throughout the apartment are painted dark blue, and the open-plan living Spaces include a home office, dining area and tea room. To create a more open, spacious feel, all interior doors have been removed and bedrooms can now be closed with curtains. The bedroom and kitchen were converted to create a large open-plan living space. "Enough space had to be created for all the intended functional areas," says Fradina. "It was put together like a jigsaw puzzle until each part fell into place."

The interior floors are made of dark grey micro-cement, which creates a "perfect backdrop" for the rough texture of the surrounding furniture and supplies. Apart from these chairs, all of the furniture was designed by Fradina, using simple geometric forms reminiscent of classic medieval designs. Renowned Swedish interior designer Lotta Agaton has commented that such emotional interior design is often a response to the "dark ages".
